Chinese New Year is tomorrow. In Chinese tradition, at least from what I know, tonight is the dinner for the end of the year. All family members should get together and enjoy a meal. In this meal, we should always end with the perfect sweet treat, which is the glutinous rice ball. The round shape of the glutinous rice balls symbolize the family togetherness.
Glutinous rice balls are made with glutinous rice flour. They are boiled in a sweet light syrup which is usually made with water, rock sugar/brown sugar pieces, and a few ginger pieces. The syrup is sweet and warm. The hint of ginger flavor is infused into the light syrup. The glutinous rice balls are like dumplings. They are stuffed with filling and roll into a ball shape. Are you also addicted to coffee? Here some good reasons to enjoy you addiction!
To hear most recent research tell it, coffee is a miracle drink. The magic beans will ward off skin cancer and Alzheimer’s, reduce heart failure and diabetes risks, heighten focus, and maybe even protect liver health. Oh, and decrease suicide risk, according to the newest study that validates our coffee addictions.
According to a study performed by the Harvard School of Public Health and published this month in The World Journal of Biological Psychiatry, people who drink two to four cups of java each day are less likely to commit suicide than those who don’t drink coffee, drink decaf, or drink fewer than two cups each day. The study followed over 200,000 people for at least 16 years. And it’s not just a weak link: the researchers found that the suicide risk was cut by around 50 percent for caffeine fiends.

Well …. nice recipe, also if cous cous cannot really be called “Italian”, you can substitute it with any kind of pasta as well.
I like that!
We traveled to the University of Florida this past week to attend my son’s tennis camp. While there I was treated to the best Vegan/Vegetarian meals I’d ever had. Who knew that a southern college town would have such an abundance of healthy eating options.
My favorite place of all was this Co-op Organic Market located just north of the campus, called Citizens Organic Co-op Market.
They had an abundance of everything and everything looked fresh and their prices were very reasonable. One thing in particular I saw was that they carried 7 types of tomatoes, offered a self serve bulk area, local brewed and unique beers ( including Russian River IPA)and a really cool patio with a play area for kids.
Summer finally here guys!
